Volunteer Opportunities

Your time and commitment will directly impact small and growing organizations whose work supports our diverse LGBTQ communities. Most positions do not require experience; many positions can be done remotely, in your free time, and on your schedule; and, you will have the opportunity to give back while growing your professional skills.

Current Opportunities

 

POSITION: Volunteer Coordinator 

As an all-volunteer non-profit organization, The BHT Foundation relies on the support of our volunteers.  Without them we could not exist!  We are currently looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who can build our Volunteer Program.  Since this is a new position, the newly recruited volunteer coordinator will help mold our program as well as help us continue our mission of giving back to our community!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and implements new methods to attract and retain volunteers

  • Utilize third party recruitment platforms as needed (Idealist, Volunteer Match)

  • Filter all volunteer questions and concerns

  • Plan and execute volunteer orientation and annual recognition events

  • Develop SOPs, job descriptions, and training materials 

  • Create and manage complete volunteer schedule

  • Work with Committee Chairs and match volunteers to opportunities that best suit their abilities

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Experience in working with and/or creating volunteer programs (preferred) 

  • Experience in working with and thanking volunteers

  • Excellent people and organizational skills

  • Excellent writing, communication, and problem solving skills

  • Computer Skills including Google Drive and adept at volunteer scheduling programs

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 2 to 4 hours per month with additional hours as events and receptions

  • While attendance at board meetings is not required, but monthly updates are required

Become a Board Member!

BHT's Board of Directors is comprised of both member clubs (who designate their representative to our board from within their membership) and elected members unaffiliated with our member clubs. Both types of members of equal privileges on our board.  ​Do you or your club want to join BHT Foundations's Board of Directors, or want to learn more about us? Monthly board meetings are open meetings that occur at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month.  Our meetings average an hour; but can go shorter or longer depending on any given evening's agenda. Apart from our meetings, board members might be asked to attend various community events to represent BHT or assist with BHT-sponsored fundraising event planning. ​Are you an individual unaffiliated with a club interested in being elected to our board? Click HERE to review and submit an application to serve on our board.
